Monthly Meetings
We generally meet the Second Saturday of the month at 2PM at 3066 S Granby St Aurora, CO 80014 unless otherwise published in Email or Facebook or on this site in “Special notices”.
Please email wmaco1@comcast.net to get virtual meeting information as we are using a remote access option for those who can’t attend. We ALWAYS have a good time! And for a small group, just like the Marines, we are mighty!
Anniversary Party
The Anniversary of the Women’s Reserve is Feb 13th, 1943. We celebrate the date that women became a permanent part of the Marine Corps Annually as close to that date as possible. We try to combine with other great events to include as many women veterans as possible.
Go here to purchase a ticket for the 2024 anniversary celebration which is the inaugural Women Veterans of Colorado Conference co-hosted by the Division of Military and Veterans Affairs of Colorado and our New Women Veterans’ Representative, Amy Demenge!
US Marine Corps Memorial Ceremonies
WMA was part of the team who created THE United States Marine Corps Memorial at 6th Ave and Colfax in Golden, CO. Events are held on Memorial Day and the Saturday before Veterans Day as well as near August 26th for the Memorial’s Anniversary. WMA is responsible for the state flags displayed at ceremonies, the wreath, and our president has led the Memorial team since 2013!

USMC Birthday Luncheon
The annual USMC Birthday Luncheon, organized by “Rocky Mountain Marines”, takes place at the Denver Athletic Club, marking a significant celebration. During this event, WMACO1 offers memorable gifts to the guest speaker and attendees. Notably, Women Marines frequently fulfill the role of the Eldest Marine in the cake-cutting ceremony. In the 2022 luncheon, the role was held by “Babe” Houser, who was 100 years old at the time. In 2023 we arranged for our friend Jim Blane (Iwo Jima) to serve as the eldest Marine at 99! The 2024 luncheon will be dedicated to our Iwo vets who will all be 99 and Jim will be just turning 100! Our Marge Alexander’s “Tun Tavern” painting has become the guest speaker’s gift!
Breakfast for Buckley
WMA CO1 traditionally provides Breakfast by partnering with a local hotel in support of the troops serving at the Navy/Marine Corps Reserve Center on Buckley Space Force Base. We also bring gifts! In 2023 we were joined by Troy Williams and Pam Martinez of Homes for Heroes who presented our President with an award for Community Impact! We delivered over 115 gift bags plus a lot of coffee and reusable cups from Starbucks; car washes from Streamline Car Wash; Hair cut by Merna’s Salon; Pazooki’s from BJ’s and many gift cards from “In Honor of Sgt Tony Sarlls”, Carron Walpole, Fredia Johnson, the Scanlons and more. The Double Tree hotel in Aurora provided breakfast served by Dana and her staff.
Join us and help with this great tradition of thanking those serving in today’s military!
2018 Fundraising Partnership
This Chapter teamed with Bed Bath and Beyond Patrons at Pioneer Hills to buy and donate goodies for the troops in Iraq (2018).
We raised funds to ship them to Iraq. We often do projects to help veterans or active duty troops. Please help us by donating to our chapter.
